Friendly Visits: How to Enrich the Homebound Senior’s Life and Yours!

Friendly Visiting can be a vital component to our aging seniors living alone at home.

Loneliness is a common experience for many individuals, especially for those who are homebound. Many aging seniors face greater challenges in accessing social interaction, resulting in a decreased quality of life.

Friendly Visits can greatly enhance the lives of these individuals and it’s very rewarding for the volunteer as well! Just listen to what one of our volunteers experienced.

I visit a lovely lady who found herself in a very dark and difficult time of life. Over the months, I’ve seen numerous changes. She’s been less depressed and is working on being more social and independent despite her current circumstances.

It’s been very satisfying to see her change since we’ve been visiting together. It’s also been very good for me—I didn’t anticipate how much I would enjoy our visits. We’ve become great friends and I’m so blessed by our time together.

What’s involved in Friendly Visits?

Friendly and concerned volunteers visit and support homebound seniors. They provide a sense of companionship and social interaction that may be missing from their daily lives. By offering a listening ear, engaging in conversation, and participating in activities together, volunteers can offer a renewed sense of purpose and joy to those they visit.

How often are Friendly Visits?

Visits are usually on-going and regular and are usually once a week.
