Thirty years ago, Sun Lakes congregants of area places of worship noticed that many of their neighbors were unable to drive to church or to the grocery store. In response, church leaders and members united to provide essential transportation support for elderly neighbors.
Today, this initiative has evolved into Neighbors Who Care, a non-profit organization that serves over 600 seniors in Sun Lakes and south Chandler, supported by 300 dedicated volunteers.
Data from Neighbors Who Care indicates that our volunteer services enable elderly community members to remain in their homes for an average of five additional years.
“It is an honor to watch this amazing organization continue to provide such critical support to our in-need community members, at zero cost to them, in the spirit of providing the dignity of independent living at home. This program would not be possible without our volunteers who make a significant difference every day in the lives of our community members. It will be a delight to celebrate all of those who have kept this program growing over the last three decades.”
