As summer temperatures rise, many older adults choose to stay indoors to keep cool. While staying inside offers relief from the heat, it can also lead to feelings of loneliness and boredom—especially for seniors who are homebound.
Digital devices like iPads and tablets offer fun, stimulating ways to stay mentally active from brain games and audiobooks to educational videos. But here’s the catch: many seniors aren’t sure how to fully use these tools.
That’s where you come in.
If you’re comfortable with technology and looking for a meaningful way to give back to our community, consider volunteering through our Friendly Visiting program. You can help a senior learn to navigate their device, discover new apps, and enjoy all the benefits digital tools have to offer.
Summer can be an especially quiet time, with many of our regular volunteers away. Your help can make all the difference in preventing boredom and isolation among our older neighbors.
