Neighbors Who Care is proud to introduce our new Office Manager, Laura, who grew up in the Phoenix area whose entire career has been defined by a deep-seated passion for helping people in their most vulnerable moments.
A Foundation of Compassion on the Front Lines
Laura’s journey in service began remarkably early. She earned her EMT certification while still in high school and jumped straight into the field at TerrosHealth; an organization with a rich history of grassroots support.
She began her career on the front lines, working on the psychiatric ambulance and crisis lines. During this time, she helped those battling drug addiction and complications and mental health crises through TerrosHealth’s signature “no-heat” approach partnering with healthcare providers to offer help without getting individuals into legal trouble.
Growth and Operational Expertise
During her 32-year tenure, Laura witnessed TerrosHealth undergo an incredible transformation the staff grew from just 64 members to over 1,000 and expanded to 7+ locations, offering everything from integrated healthcare to detox and recovery services.
After her time in direct services, Laura moved into critical supportive office roles. She mastered the internal “gears” of the organization, managing everything from training and payroll to the complex administrative pieces that keep a large non-profit running smoothly.
From the President’s Office to Our Front Door
After her long career at TerrosHealth, Laura spent several years at Arizona State University. She worked in their business operation of the law department that department eventually moved to the ASU President’s Office, where she served for the last two years.
While she was preparing for retirement, Laura saw a posting for the NWC Office Manager position and knew it was the “perfect fit” an opportunity to bring her decades of operational expertise back to the community she calls home.
Life in Sun Lakes
Laura and her husband Clint, a retired police lieutenant, moved to Sun Lakes in July 2021. Drawn by the golf and active community lifestyle, they have fully embraced the area. When she isn’t at the office, you’ll likely find Laura crafting and cooking, she believes food is the ultimate way to pull people together for games and conversation. She loves staying busy with work, reading and other outdoor activities. She cherishes time with her adult children and her beloved dog Kolbie, a McNab Scottish Border Collie.
A Vision for the Future
Laura’s goal for Neighbors Who Care is to ensure the organization remains a stable, forward-thinking pillar of the community. She is dedicated to maintaining our current services while using her extensive background in training and operations to move us into the future, ensuring we can continue serving Sun Lakes and South Chandler seniors for years to come.
“I want to make sure I continue to serve my community,” Laura says. We couldn’t be happier to have her heart and experience leading our office!
