6 Ways to be a Healthier and Happier Aging Senior

September is Healthy Aging® Month which encourages each of us to focus on the positive aspects of growing older and take personal responsibility for our own health.

Here’s 6 ways to help you be a healthier and happier aging senior!

Eat well. Make healthy choices like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and drink plenty of water. The more colorful the plate, the better!

Get moving. Being active can help you prevent, delay and manage chronic diseases as well as helps you improve your balance, sleep and mood. The weather is cooling down so go out and enjoy it!

Be connected. Lack of social connecting can be unhealthy so find an activity that you like and join in. Have lunch with a friend, see a movie or join in a community activity.

Rest up. The body must rest in order to rejuvenate. Try and get 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Sleep improves cognitive and memory formation.

Boost your brain. Do activities that keep the brain active such as reading, doing puzzles, or memory-boosting games on your electronic device.

❤️ Be realistic. A big part of being healthy is enjoying life. You don’t need to go to the gym for hours or skip dessert every night. The key is to find a healthy balance that works for you.

We love to help aging seniors thrive in life. Make sure you mark your calendar for our Aging Made Easier conference on January 31, 2023, 8:30am-noon. More details to come!
