About the Position:

This position supports Neighbors Who Care by providing leadership and strategic direction towards the organization’s established mission and vision, working in partnership with the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, and making decisions that impact the entire organization. This is accomplished by modeling best practices and demonstrating leadership ability, creativity, and innovation in relationship building, planning, and problem solving. The position is responsible for overseeing the administration, operations, programs, fundraising, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fiscal management, marketing, and community outreach.

About the Organization:

Neighbors Who Care (NWC) was founded in 1994 and assists the homebound, disabled, and/or frail elderly in Sun Lakes and south Chandler. The NWC mission is, “Neighbors Who Care inspires a robust network of volunteers who respond to ever changing needs of our aging community, helping them live at home with pride, dignity and independence.” NWC’s operational goal is to recruit, train, and manage community volunteers to provide quality non-medical assistive services to enrolled clients via a “neighbor helping neighbor” approach. NWC’s service area is comprised of 32 square miles and serves the communities of south Chandler and Sun Lakes. This geographic area, according to the 2010 U.S. Census, has the third highest population of elderly adults statewide, but lacks sufficient wraparound human services programs to address the population’s needs.

Builds Strategic Relationships

  • Stays abreast of business, industry, and market information that may reveal partnership and funding opportunities
  • Seeks and builds long-term relationships with external partners aligned with the NWC mission and vision
  • Has an in-depth understanding of “competitors” for talent, resources and public attention in the sector
  • Cultivates relationships with Board members, donors and other affiliates; shares best practices with staff


Other Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 or more years senior nonprofit leadership experience or commensurate experience
  • Budget development and management experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations
  • Knowledge in Windows, Microsoft Applications, and relevant software
  • Valid driver’s license and current auto liability insurance
