Sheryl Keeme, Executive Director
Sheryl Keeme brought a love for nonprofit work with her from western PA to Arizona in 2000. She has recruited and trained volunteers across the country for the American Cancer Society, raised money riding hundreds of miles on a bike for the National MS Society, and has consulted many other nonprofits with missions as varied as the people they served. Every organization had one important thing in common: people with a passion for solving important problems. Today, she is excited to lead Neighbors Who Care and create sustainable practices to ensure its remarkable mission continues for years to come.
Elizabeth Vaughan, Community Outreach Manager & Newsletter Editor
Elizabeth Vaughan is a Marketing Communications expert, specializing in cause related marketing and volunteer engagement. She is a proud Jayhawker and alumna of the University of Kansas where she studied Marketing Communications and Vocal Performance. Elizabeth honed her marketing skills working with companies like Coca-Cola, MindSpring, Stop Hunger Now and NASCAR, and co-produces the world’s largest annual commercial airline history and collectibles show for Airliners International. Elizabeth is a gifted musician who performs all over the Valley, and shares her life with her partner, Chad, his daughter, Olivia, two dogs and a hedgehog named Leroy.
Bonnie Kosar, Case Manager
Bonnie received her Social Work degree from the University of Regina in Canada. She moved with her family to AZ in 1998 and has served as the Case Manager for Neighbors Who Care since 2003. As Case Manager she is responsible for determining clients’ needs and how NWC can best meet those needs. She facilitates a weekly Caregiver Support Group and is a certified Master Trainer for the Powerful Tools for Caregiver Program.
Joan Byrnes, Dinner Delivery Coordinator
Joan moved to Arizona from New Jersey in 1998. She started working at Neighbors Who Care in 2011 as the Dinner Delivery Coordinator. Her responsibility is to coordinate the Daily Meal Program which includes calling each dinner delivery client to obtain their meal selection, taking their order and assigning volunteer drivers to deliver their meals.
Verna Mahnke, Office Coordinator
Verna moved from Aurora, Colorado where she lived for 20 years. She is a hands-on professional with over 25 years Office Management and Customer Service in diverse areas which include Computer Technology, HR, Training, Retail Tax Service Operations, and Accounting. Her desire is to become an active member of the community and is excited to be on the staff of “Neighbors Who Care” working with all the volunteers and serving the clients.
Cathy Franks, Administrative Assistant
Cathy was born in Northern California where she had a career in banking and real estate. She moved to Arizona in 2004, and in 2005 changed her career to work with special needs kids for the Chandler Unified School District. She also coached special needs kids for Unified Sports. She moved to Sun Lakes in 2017, and wanted to find a way to service the community that she had come to love. That is why she is so happy to have found, and joined the Neighbors Who Care Team.
